nanin - how many people.

nanin kodomo san ga imasu ka? - how many child do you have?

san nin kodomo ga imasu - I have 3 children

san nin - 3 people

futari - 2 people.

futari kodomo ga imasu -

hitori - 1 person.

otokonoko - boy

otokonoko ga hotari imasu - I have

onanoko - girl.

otokonoko wa imasen - i have no boys

otokonoko wa oki desu - the boy is big.

kodomo tachi - plural of children

kodomo tachi wa o oki desu - the children are big.
